The Horsmonden Summer Festival really is the ‘main’ event in the HoVEC calendar.
Dates for 2019 Festival are confirmed as Friday 7th - Sunday 9th June.
The festival provides fun and entertainment for everyone to enjoy. All the festival events take place on The Village Green in and around the HoVEC marquee, including a licensed bar provided throughout the weekend by the Social Club, which is manned by volunteers.

The theme for this years fete is "Once Upon A Time" and will begin with the traditional procession from the school with each class dressed as characters from their favourite book.
This year, for the first time, there will be 3 competitions; Best Cake, Best Photo (in or around Horsmonden) and Best Picture, with prizes up for grabs. Why not have a go or come and see all the entries on the day?
There will be stalls from the very popular crockery smash, bottle and sweet tombolas, hook-a-duck, inflatables, face painting and many more.
Year 4 will be performing Maypole dancing in the arena and a cardio tennis workout, space hopper races, a tug-of-war and the stocks will also provide entertainment throughout the afternoon.
We will also be holding our annual silent auction throughout the weekend and have some really great prizes this year including hampers, spa vouchers, a wreath making session, a physiotherapy session, a beekeeping experience, a chocolate workshop, a tennis lesson, a photo shoot, shooting taster sessions and many more! So come a grab yourself a bargain or try something new. The silent auction will be located in or near to the marquee.
With all this going on, a BBQ and bar, and popcorn from the scouts it is set to be a fun day! All we have to do is hope that the sun shines on us and rain doesn't stop play. We will be asking for donations for tombolas, crockery smash and more nearer the time so please look out for requests from us!
For more information about the School Fete, or to get involved please email Katy Arscott from FoHPS.
Once the school fete has finished and the clearing up has been completed, the marquee is handed over to the Saturday evening music event. HoVEC seeks to provide a variety of music, completely free of charge to all those wishing to attend. The aim is to provide six or seven different acts which may vary from samba drum music, ukulele players, solo artists and full bands. HoVEC will also arrange for food and refreshment vendors to keep everyone fed and watered! HoVEC is keen to support local musicians, so members of the HoVEC team can often be seen at local music festivals such as Local & Live and UNFEST in Tunbridge Wells as well as attending many of the local pubs and other venues that support live music.
A full list of this year’s participants will be posted shortly, but we are pleased to confirm that Bloco Fogo will rally the crowd at the beginning of the evening and Between Giants will be headlining this year.
If you play in a band and want to be considered for future events, please call Ralph Beney on 0778 8107 566.
Join us for lively informal worship led by the churches of Horsmonden. There will be refreshments served beforehand, and a mixture of hymns and songs, prayers, Bible Readings, and other activities as we worship together and ask the Lord's blessings on our lives.
A few years ago, the classic vehicle display started with a handful of local enthusiasts bringing along their pride and joy for all to see. It has gradually increased in size, hosting in 2017 some 45 cars, motor cycles, utility vehicles and a vintage bus and taxi—an eclectic mix dating from new supercars to models 100 years old. We have this display on the family Sunday afternoon so that local people can proudly exhibit their beautiful vehicles, and as they depict all decades reaching back in the past ten, our older villagers can eulogize about the way things used to be, while the young can see and be inspired by some amazing machinery.
For more information or to volunteer, please email Martin Dace.
The Village Tea Party is a free event for all villagers to attend. This is a relaxed family event reminiscent of a street party where you can meet with friends and indulge in a Sunday afternoon tea. Last year over 500 guests in the marquee enjoyed sandwiches, cake and tea provided by a small army of volunteers from the Horsmonden Morning WI and the Social Club.
This year there will be a live jazz band, a selection of beautiful classic cars on the village green and entertainment for the children with characters from 'Applause' who will keep them thoroughly enthralled.
