Summer Festival 2019
The Horsmonden Summer Festival really is the ‘main’ event in the HoVEC calendar.
Dates for 2019 Festival are confirmed as Friday 7th - Sunday 9th June.
The Horsmonden Social Club provide a licensed bar throughout the weekend, with an increased range of specially selected real ales, as well as lager, wines and spirits and HoVEC run a great raffle in the run up to and over the festival weekend (tickets cost £1.00 and are available at Heath Stores, Heath Pharmacy, Horsmonden Primary School and Kindergarten and The Social Club from mid-May). The Prize Draw takes place on Sunday, 9 June, in the Marquee on the Green at 4:30pm.
THE FRIDAY EVENT – SOLD OUT
Friday 7th HoVEC Marquee from 7.00pm until late
This ticketed, themed social event is held in a marquee on The Green with a licensed bar run by The Horsmonden Social Club, live music and a prize for the best-dressed table - fancy dress is optional!
This year’s theme is ‘London Tube Stations’ with live music from “Scratch Band 2”.
Notes for ticket holders:
Table organisers will have all the information you need for this event if you have booked a table. To summarise: HoVEC supply a table and chairs, clear plastic rubbish bags for recycling bottles and cans (please don’t mix) and a bin liner to take away food rubbish
Guests are asked to bring their own food, crockery/cutlery/glasses and a tablecloth and to dress their table to impress! Note that plastic tablecloths will not be provided this year in support of Village Footprint initiative.
Wine or fizz can be brought along too, but guests are asked to support the bar for ALL other drinks, particularly the real ales. The bar is run by Social Club volunteers and all profit made from the weekend goes back into our community. Please bring your own reusable plastic beer glasses or buy a HoVEC one with your drinks for just £1.00.
Table dress code: decorations must sit on the table and structures be ‘safe’. Chairs can be dressed, but space is limited. Additional props, items deemed ‘unsafe’ or those encroaching on the floor will be removed. No real candles please!
Judging criteria is based on the interpretation of “London Tube Stations” in terms of originality and creativity.
Many people come in fancy dress linked to their table’s theme too, this is great fun but optional, and does not form part of the judging criteria.
4 to 6pm - Marquee open to dress tables (please email Sara Foster if not convenient)
6 to 7pm - Marquee closed for judging
7 to 8pm – Bar opens, and guests arrive
8 to 9pm - Guests dine
9 to 11:45 – Dancing to “Scratch Band 2”

This year, children from YR4 will entertain the crowds with Maypole dancing in the arena and the Schools very own Cheerleading Squad will also perform. There are demonstrations from HotShotz tennis coaching, a visit from local Morris Dancers and some great stalls including the ever-popular crockery smash, bottle and sweet tombola’s, plus inflatables, face painting and more.
Throughout the event FOHPS run a Silent Auction, with great prizes, including a tennis lesson, wreath making class, physio session, wine and hampers filled with goodies donated by School parents. The Silent Auction is in, or near to, the marquee.
